About Dr. Gettman:

Hi, hello!

I’m Dr. SG Gettman, a licensed naturopathic doctor.

10ish years ago, I wrote a personal mission statement.

It said, “to live well in the places that I am and to shake shit up when necessary.”

In its current iteration, this means helping folks heal their burnout and chronic illnesses and live vibrantly with the help of naturopathic medicine so they can get back to the world-shaking things and community building they are called to.

What I believe about medicine:

  • I don’t subscribe to a one-size-fits-all approach to medicine.

  • I'm just as likely to recommend you write a “things that spark joy” list as I am to prescribe a multivitamin.

  • I believe in the body’s incredible capacity to heal itself, bounce back from injury and illness, and cultivate resilience.

  • I believe your inner knowing is the best guide in any room, and your goals should be the north star in guiding a treatment plan.

About You:

  • The folks I work with are the best. You are desperately trying to get to the root cause of your joint pain, constant fatigue, and insomnia. You’re interested in doing the sometimes hard but oh-so-worth-it work of true healing.

  • Outside of doing healing work with me, you are raising little ones, joyfully working to take down oppressive systems, baking bread for your friends, and learning to be better listeners to your co-workers.

About Me:

  • I have profound empathy for the health challenges my patients have gone through as I have healed from many of the same conditions I treat. Having a doctor who has traversed a similar path brings an additional set of wisdom that cannot be learned in a book or a training course.

  • I’ve completed a lot of formal education—a bachelor of fine arts, a master of arts in teaching focused on art education, and a doctor of naturopathic medicine. I have completed specialized training in pelvic pain and gemstone therapy, and I’m a volunteer preceptor at a free clinic for LGBT+ asylum seekers. Despite all of this, I won’t hesitate to let you know when I don’t know and will go to incredible lengths to find you the answer, even if that means waiting on hold to talk to a specialist for three hours.

  • You’ll always have my full attention because I want to hear every detail of your health story. The journey you’ve been on matters. I aim to understand the full extent of it.

If this sounds like you, let’s work together.
